ceramic:

My work tends to focus on vessel forms and functional ware, utilizing different methods of firing. During my 5 years at KU, I fired wood kilns including train and anagama, salt kilns powered by gas, wood fired soda kilns, as well as traditional cone 10 reduction gas kilns. I am interested in glaze work and surfaces, mixing my own glaze recipes and layering multiple glazes on pieces. I love leaving my mark on my work, be that with sgraffito, finger indentions, relief carvings, or markings from the kiln process. I enjoy a certain element of fate when firing my work, and love to be surprised by the ceramic, as it often evokes natural processes.

I am inspired by enormity, queer joy, big sky, planetary bodies, and the juxtaposition of darkness and light.
